The Tripoli Karate Club was formed in 1984 and was a member of the Iowa Tang Soo Do Association. In 1990, under direction of black belt instructor Brendt Bernard, the Tripoli school joined the World Tang Soo Do Association. In 2010 , the club joined the I.K.S.A. group. Brendt Bernard (4th degree black belt), Eric Sommermeyer (3rd degree black belt) and Mike Vork (1st degree black belt) have participated in numerous tournaments including 2 world championships in Orlando FL. Each year the Black Belts attend a national seminar in Nashville Tenn. where notable martial arts celebrities provide 3 days of advanced instruction. The club is made up of 21 students and holds classes on Tuesday evening and Saturday Mornings. We hold a tournament each May and put on numerous demonstrations
